Letting Spirit Lead: What Happens When Old Ways Stop Working in a New Year
This podcast episode of The Unity Code was not planned. I tried to record a completely different episode multiple times, and each time I flubbed it, stalled, or lost the thread. Eventually it became obvious that Spirit had something else to say. When that happens, I’ve learned not to push or force clarity. I stop and listen. What came through instead was a real-time reflection on what happens when you stop forcing alignment and start letting Spirit lead, especially in business, personal growth, and major life transitions. This episode marks my initiation into 2026, a Universal Year One, and the lesson was clear: I cannot build my next chapter using the same patterns that carried me through the last one.
Closing a Year Nine Before Moving Forward
Energetically and numerologically, 2025 was a Year Nine, a year of completion. Like many people, my instinct was to jump straight into planning by mapping programs, setting goals, and outlining what would come next. My Spirit team stopped me before I could do that. Instead of pushing forward, they asked me to pause and close energetic loops before creating something new. That pause became the foundation for the 2026 Activation Portal, a program I didn’t design from strategy but from necessity. I didn’t just teach this experience; I walked through it myself, and doing so required something deeply uncomfortable for me: letting go of control.
When Intuition Replaces Planning
I am someone who values structure, and planning has served me well for years. This experience, however, asked me to try something different by allowing intuition to lead instead of logic. Inside the Activation Portal, the process unfolded in real time as ancestors reflected accomplishments instead of checklists, linear planning gave way to intuitive sequencing, and Spirit redirected exercises mid-session. Nervous system awareness replaced productivity pressure. The energy in those sessions was intense, and during the first class I struggled to stay grounded enough to record properly, which immediately told me something important was happening. This experience wasn’t about content; it was about alignment.
Making Space for Spirit (and Receiving the Downloads)
One of the biggest surprises came during the final week of the year, a time I usually block off completely due to family chaos and lack of focus. This year, I didn’t plan. I stayed open. In that openness, Spirit delivered months’ worth of clarity in just a few days. I received insight around the evolution of my mediumship work, the re-creation of my mastermind into The Circle, clearer language for my soul-level readings, and a simpler, more aligned way to talk about my services. None of this came from effort or pushing forward. It came from creating enough space to receive.
Why Mediumship Alone No Longer Felt Expansive
Mediumship is powerful, and evidential connections are life-changing. For me, however, it was never meant to stop at proof of life after death. What I want, and what Spirit continues to push me toward, is helping people live better lives now. That means integrating guidance, healing, ancestral wisdom, soul perspective, and practical insight so that spiritual connection becomes something you can actually apply in your daily life. This shift didn’t move away from mediumship; it expanded it, and expansion requires a different way of showing up.
Nervous System Awareness and Old Patterns Surfacing
As January arrived and routines returned, the contrast became obvious. My energy dropped, my inspiration stalled, and my nervous system defaulted to overdoing, freezing, and exhaustion. That contrast revealed a simple truth: the habits that got me here will not get me where I’m going. Some long-standing patterns, such as working late, maintaining constant output, and staying busy to feel productive, no longer matched the version of me I am becoming. Awareness is the first step in breaking those patterns, and choice comes next.
The Question Spirit Keeps Asking
This is the question I’m sitting with and inviting you to reflect on as well. Do your current habits belong to your past self, or do they belong to your future one? There is no judgment in this question, only honesty. Growth doesn’t come from forcing change or pushing harder; it comes from alignment and from allowing yourself to evolve beyond what once worked.
What This Means for 2026
A Year One is not about rushing forward or doing more. It is about experimenting differently, trusting differently, and listening differently. Most of all, it is about allowing Spirit to show you how instead of demanding answers upfront. This episode is not polished, but it is real, and it marks the beginning of a new way of working, teaching, and living.
